Description
MGB GT 1969 with Overdrive
Professionally restored in the mid-nineties, when it was completely stripped-down with the body bead-blasted, treated and painted in a low-bake oven. Following the restoration it was assessed as being ‘A1’ in all categories by Footman James (report included) and has been carefully garaged and cherished ever since, with various upgrades to present day.
In 2004 the engine was fully-reconditioned and has only completed 4, 000 miles since. The engine was; rebored, crank polished, new bearings and pistons, new camshaft, bearings and cam followers, timing chain and tensioner, carburettors rebuilt, skimmed flywheel, new clutch assembly, new radiator, the cylinder head was reconditioned and converted to run on unleaded fuel. Additionally it has also received new rear springs, dampers, steering rack, front suspension, refurbished brakes, stainless steel exhaust, new fuel pump, clutch master cylinder, new bumpers, chrome-wire wheels, new leather upholstery, door and boot locks and a recent new battery.
Showing only 45, 000 miles (MOT mileage history included), the engine is very smooth with great oil pressure and starts first time and is a pleasure to drive, benefitting from the ‘Overdrive’ which works perfectly. Both the bodywork and underside are in very good condition and all the chrome is like new. The interior is very impressive with its original ‘Banjo’ steering wheel, reclining leather seats and all the gauges and controls work correctly.
A beautiful ‘classic’ example, that has not been modified and retains its original specification and numbers, as detailed on the ‘Heritage Certificate’ apart from a subtle change of colour from ’Snowberry White’ to the more popular ‘Old English White’ and comes with a history file containing invoices, MOT’s, engine ‘dyno’ data, ‘Footman James’ report, original handbook and Heritage Certificate.
Reluctant sale due to health issues, no time wasters.
