Description
This bike was restored in 2018 and was on display in the Cotswold Motor Museum since then. It has now been recommissioned, and road tested and is available for sale.
It is a very good example of the 850 Interstate MkIII, and, having been made in 1976 is one of the last produced by the Norton factory.
Norton enthusiasts will be aware that this model has; the left side gearchange, electric start (this one has been upgraded), front and rear disk brakes, and is more reliable, oil tight and robust than its predecessors. This one is fitted with the Boyer MkIII electronic ignition.
The bike will be supplied with the restoration history, including bills of around £4000, full service history back to 2010, a full set of manuals and a few spares.
The bike is located in W4, Chiswick, has had five owners, including the present owner, and can be shown running and ridden. You Tube videos are available on my channel - greg nutkins.
As part of the recommissioning, the bike has had; new fork oil, new gearbox oil, new engine oil, cam chain tensioned, valve clearances checked, carbs cleaned, timing checked, new battery, new primary chaincase oil, Boyer ignition checked, new brake fluid, electrics checked and more.
All offers considered. As far as classic Nortons go, the 850 Interstate MkIII is probably the most popular as a lot of the initial problems with the Commandos had been ironed out.
The upgraded electric start with this one is much improved on the original and the restoration was carried out well and the bike looks great.
I'm sad to see it go, but other projects are in the pipeline and sacrificies have to be made.
