Description
This “Three Thousand Five” was registered in February 1970. It is in ‘Tobacco Leaf’ with a ‘Sandalwood’ leather interior.
The car is higher-mileage at 136, 450 but has been regularly used & serviced so it drives very well & sounds lovely. Structurally, it has had few repairs in the past & so much of it is original & in good condition.
There are several blebs here & there on the panels, but they don’t detract from a good looking & desirable series 1 V8 that can be used & enjoyed every day.
The interior is in super condition with no obvious damage although the carpets are a little worn in places. It has excellent seats, front ‘ET’ headrests, flat front parcel shelf, optional V8 ‘tacho pod’ & has original Kangol front seatbelts fitted (& good spares), plus aftermarket matching rears. The front windscreen is laminated & is in excellent condition. A real bonus is that it is fitted with power steering from another P6, with leather-trimmed steering wheel to match.
It has an MOT to October 2025 & has a service history from 2007 when I acquired it. Its story is detailed on the web’s “Classic Rover Forum” under the threads ‘Hazel – a Series 1 V8 daily driver’ & ‘Ouch & ouch again’. I would encourage you to read these because they are written ‘warts & all’.
Many parts have been renewed and importantly, the rear suspension is fully refurbished with uprated springs & excellent lower arms. It has a really nice stance & the tyres are all fresh.
The car is not concours by any means. It has slightly different shade wings & a couple of the doors would benefit from some attention. If you wish to come & drive the car, I’m in East Yorkshire. I have an inspection pit if you would like to examine the underneath.
There is a spare series 1 V8 bonnet that can go with the car. I also have many spare panels if you required some by separate negotiation. I bought this "Series 1" V8 in 2007. These P6s are a reasonably rare & desirable Rover P6. They have the advantage of being both the original design & having the fantastic V8 engine.
As stated, this car has had some minor structural repairs over the years, but is still broadly original. P6 fans will appreciate it being unmolested in all the right places. It also had a minor shunt many years ago, the full details of which are on the Classic Rover Forum as noted above.
It has a service history from 2007 & the log book shows only 2 former keepers before me.
This really is a car to use & enjoy, or is a great example to do some tidying as you go.
