I purchased My Rover 827 Sterling last year and have enjoyed many outings. Having toured the North of Scotland and the Scottish islands. As well as enjoying weekends away. I purchased her with just over 31, 200 miles, enjoying 1, 700 miles of trouble-free touring. Having recently moved home and after purchasing my new classic, I have decided to sell.
I have a stamped service book showing services were carried out at: 6, 200 Miles, 8, 304 Miles, 10, 169 Miles, 13, 077 Miles, 17, 640 Miles, 20, 572 Miles, 32, 500 Miles. I was assured that there was an additional serviced carried out in March 2022 with 29, 822 miles when my seller purchased the car from the specialist dealer. I have the purchaser’s sales invoice for £9, 500.
I had my Rover serviced August 2024. The timing belt was changed on 17/ 04/ 2019 – 29, 399 miles and the gearbox fluids were also changed. New Uniroyal Rain-sport tyres were fitted and have covered less than 3000 gently driven miles. A new exhaust system was fitted in September 2019 which was supplied by Rimmer Brothers. I have invoices for all work completed.
I also have old MOT certificates dating back to 1997. 22/ 04/ 1997 – 9, 330 Miles, 26/ 05/ 1998 – 12, 250 Miles, 14/ 05/ 1999 – 15, 417 Miles, 03/ 05/ 2000 – 17, 644 Miles, 14/ 05/ 2001 – 18, 644 Miles, 07/ 05/ 2002 – 19554 Miles, 15/ 04/ 2003 – 19, 990 Miles, 13/ 04/ 2004 – 20, 887 Miles, 29/ 03/ 2005 – 21, 995 Miles, 17/ 04/ 2006 – 22, 987 Miles, 08/ 03/ 2007 – 24, 135 Miles, 25/ 02/ 2008 – 25, 224 Miles, 23/ 02/ 2009 – 25, 862 Miles, 08/ 03/ 2010 – 26, 090 Miles, 21/ 03/ 2011 – 26, 347 Miles, 07/ 03/ 2012 – 26, 664 Miles, 21/ 02/ 2013 – 26, 838 Miles, 24/ 02/ 2014 – 27, 261 Miles, 24/ 02/ 2015 – 28, 097 Miles, 22/ 02/ 2016 – 28, 319 Miles, 21/ 02/ 2017 – 28, 758 Miles, 22/ 01/ 2019 – 29, 249 Miles, 21/ 04/ 2021 – 29, 716 Miles, 09/ 03/ 2022 – 29, 901 Miles, 07/ 03/ 2023 – 30, 738 Miles, 21/ 03/ 2024 – 31, 208 Miles, 01/ 04/ 2025 – 32, 734 Miles. A General and Honest Description of my 1998 Rover 827 Sterling.
Please read my description in full. The car does need some minor mechanical work.
On the Road: The car starts on the first turn of the key. The Honda 2. 7 engine runs smooth and quiet. Once on the road the gears move up and down the automatic gearbox seamlessly. The steering is light and positive. It is a very nice car to drive.
The Boot Compartment: Clean and dry. The Boot compartment is illuminated. The spare wheel is a full size and the jack and brace are there.
Interior: The roof lining material is quite perfect with no marks or sagging. The seats are all in very nice order and the bolsters are in good condition. The rear seats and front passenger seats look as if they have hardly been used. The dash, doors and centre console materials are all in perfect condition with no lift.
Wheels and Tyres: All four Rover branded alloy wheel rims are in exceptional condition and have a high gloss finish. All tyres are premium branded Uniroyal Rain sports. All four tyres are in excellent condition and have excellent tread depth.
Body Work and General Condition: “Quite Immaculate” As is common with any car over 30 years old, there will be a certain amount of wear and tear as it has been used. My Rover 827 has suffered very little. Except for a couple of very small blemishes which I will be happy to point out. You will be hard pushed to find anything worth discussion. All the body panels are exact and completely unmarked. The underside of the car is as good as the rest of the car and there are no oil leaks. The cars exterior is quite special. See my pictures; the car looks as good as the pictures.
What are you buying?
A ridiculously low mileage car. However, as nice as it is and drives it needs a few mechanical things to make her perfect. Windscreen has a crack which happened yesterday. Seats and windows are intermittent or sometimes not working at all. I am told the solder in the interior fuse box has dried. If you are handy with a soldering iron or swap it for another. The suspension has a little rattle when on rough roads. I have new shock absorbers, CV Joints, Bushes etc. Everything needed. Lastly the oil cooler has a slight leak and will need repaired or replaced. This was causing a little contamination. I have had the engine completely inspected and pressure tested and everything came back good. The last picture shows the parts that I will include with the car. There is also a set of brake discs for replacement in the future.
Genuinely a nice example with just a few wee jobs to make perfect. Would suite an enthusiast.
