Description
This is a 1955 BMW R26. Part of a collection of bikes I am very reluctantly selling after over 60 years of motorcycle riding. It is a lovely example of the shaft drive 250cc BMW and is as good as it looks in the photographs. These BMWs are beautifully made and ride very well with their Earles front forks and swinging arm rear suspension. Built to a very high specification compared to British 250s at the time, they were very expensive when new and so quite rare in the UK although very popular in Germany and the rest of Europe. Spares are very easy to obtain if needed both from the UK and Europe. It has the original alloy rims, stainless steel exhaust and a genuine BMW rear rack. It's a very comfortable bike which sits on the road like a larger machine. They share many components with the twin cylinder R50. Including the frame, suspension and brakes. It is a 1955 model first registered in the UK in 1968. Road tax and MOT exempt.
More pictures can be sent if necessary or ring for any more information. Inspection welcome of course. This is a genuine private sale so no part exchange considered. 1955 model imported to UK 1968 hence the registration number.
