My 1987 Mk2 Golf Gti 1. 8 16V for sale.
I have had the car in storage since 2021 following a full cambelt and water pump service. Receipt is available for this. I was going to attack the car this Sunday and make an immaculate model for shows, however lack of storage and owning several other classic cars has meant that I have to regrettably sell.
Mileage is 132k.
Early June 1987 (my birthday!) model, so small bumpers which was always my preference. The infamous 1. 8 16v lump starts and runs fantastically.
Wheels and tyres were new in 2020, immaculate Ronal alloys fitted with very slightly stretched Falkens all round, more or less full tread. Sat on coilover suspension, brand unknown at this time. Car handles very well, very stable.
4 branch mani and stainless centre pipe gives the car that 90’s hot hatch addictive growl that keeps you pushing for more…
Interior is more or less immaculate, new roof lining and sunroof cover installed. Sadly sun roof has common fault of only opening half way. No bolster wear! Electric front windows both work fine.
Original radio in normal working order.
I have pictured a few of the standard parts I have to take this back to its original state. I also have two more boxes full of off the shelf new bits including all standard suspension and shocker tops, trims and sunroof seal. Plus much more to get this car to how I wanted as a nearing 40 sensible adult.
Rare green (unsure on colour code) body work is ok, its not immaculate. My plan was to have it resprayed over time to get it to show standard, more importantly the chassis is fine and it passed its test which runs out Dec 2025. However, this is a very useable great looking classic which could make the perfect spec 16v in time.
Very nice 6 character reg plate is original not private. There is a stack of paperwork in a folder for the car.

This particular example with small bumpers in rare green paint stands out from the crowd with its subtle modifications that suit you g and old audiences.
Fast, compact and makes all the right noises, if youre like me this fast appreciating classic will fill the void in your life.
Mechanically the car is sorted, new plugs, air, fuel, cambelt & water pump fitted before being dry stored in 2021, the car started on the button with fresh fuel in Nov 2024. Then passed its MOT with little issues.
