Description

BSA A65 Lightning for sale. Built in 1971 , first registered 1st Jan 1973. Matching original frame and engine numbers. Dating and build certificate from the BSA owners club . In superb running order and looks a million dollars.
It has been completely rebuilt over last winter with more than £4000 spent on new parts. A full written and photographic log has been kept of the rebuild . New pistons & rings, Boyer electronic ignition, new Amal 930 carbs, new wheels & tyres, nearly all new chrome, new stanchions and much much more. I have restored many bikes and cars over the years – this is my 2nd A65 rebuild and I now teach classic vehicle apprenticesIt is for sale now as I have reached an age where my knees are demanding an electric boot. (It has 10:1 high compression pistons) so I now have a K75 and AJS Tempest.
It has passed it’s MoT today 3rd April 2025, expires 16th April 2026 although strictly speaking it is exempt. I like to have my classics tested by a third party for peace of mind. It is registered historic and I have the V5c in my name. It is taxed and ready to go. NO UNACCOMPANIED TEST RIDES.
I am open to sensible offers – however do not confuse this with some tarted up relics you see for sale. I have spent a lot of enjoyable workshop time and done this properly. Bought as a semi retirement project and is now complete. I do enjoy riding it as it is a lot lighter than my K75 and handles really well. I've added LED headlamp light which is really impressive. Sadly the knees are not what they were and it does not get used as much as I anticipated.
