I bought the TD in 1992; it was originally built in LHD for export to the USA where it resided on the West coast until returning to the UK circa 1990. It was the subject of a sympathetic restoration in 1991 and the engine received a top end rebuild.
In 1993 I moved to Holland and the TD, ideal in LHD went too, spending several years with Dutch number plates. I returned home with the TD in 1995 and it has covered about 10, 000 miles since, including a trip to the South of France and various road tours around the UK. Although not concours it is in excellent overall condition with nothing that needs addressing. The smart red interior is nicely worn with no damage to the seats or the matching red carpets. The canvas hood fits well, and is complete with side screens which were purchased in Holland. There is also a snug zipped tonneau cover. The exterior Cream paintwork has minor garage marks but no corrosion. The exterior chrome all shines well, including the luggage rack.
There is a file of history and invoices from the time it returned to the UK including an early Heritage Certificate confirming it has its original engine. I have cherished the car and it has led a pampered life in my dry garage and it starts and runs well thanks to regular use and I’d have no hesitation embarking on any length journey.
With other MGs in the garage, and more time being spent overseas, I’m keen to find a new home for the TD, so it’s competitively priced and ready to go. Feel free to call for further details, lots more photographs available on request.
