Description
My friend and I had the opportunity to buy this rare 1969 Mini Countryman Mk2 Automatic last year, after it had been off the road and sat in a garage since 1989/ 1990.
Our philosophy has been to recommission the car and bring it back to road worthiness, whilst maintaining as much originality and patina as possible.
After removing over 34 years’ worth of dirt and grime we found a remarkably sound vehicle. Floors and subframes were good, but we had to undertake some minor repairs, replacing the rear valance and some welding in the rear wheel arches in order to make the car structurally sound.
As you would expect for a car of this age, that has been neglected for many years, we have needed to replace a number of parts. These include:
• New tyres
• New exhaust
• New fuel tank & sender
• New rear window channels
• New wood kit
• New underlay and carpet
Mechanically the car starts on first turn and returns a strong oil pressure. The automatic gear box changes gear smoothly both up and down.
The car has a valid MoT until August 26th 2025.
The car is not concourse condition, but has loads of originality and patina. It can be driven as a daily runner, or to shows with no work required. Equally it also provides an original and solid base for any future owner to bring the car back to concourse condition, should that be their wish.
An automatic Mini Countryman of this age is extremely rare. Indeed this may be the only automatic Countryman still on the road.
The car can be viewed and collected from GU24.
