Description
Mini Racing Green 1000
We have owned this Mini for 6 years and have stripped it down and rebuilt it back up after having all rusty panels replaced and the car repainted in beautiful Racing Green with contrasting white roof.
The bodywork included over £1, 100 in new Magnum panels (receipts available) including the sills and wings. The respray isn't concours level standard but the car gets attention wherever it goes and everybody wants to wave or have a chat.
Mechanically, everything was stripped down and the car was rebuilt with £3, 300 of new parts (receipts available). The brakes, suspension, cooling system, clutch are all new, the subframes were shot blasted and repainted with all new bushes throughout.
To finish the car I fitted new brightwork throughout including new door and boot locks so the keys match. New headlights and spotlights and all the wiring was checked.
Bad bits
The car has a CAT S marker on it because it had a small bump on the wheel which damaged a weld, the weld was fixed for £500 but the insurer wrote the car off because "they cannot fix old cars", which is a shame because it was such a minor repair. I have photos of what was done.
It will sometimes fall out of third gear but it has never bothered us.
Reason for the sale is that I built the car up with my son and he was the main user, however he has gone to college now and had become reluctant to use the car due to his little accident, I have too many cars so am now trying to reduce my collection.
