Personally imported from Japan in 2021, not ex-UK dealer stock. The car was graded 4B. Auction sheet, correspondence, shipping, import and registration documents in my name.
Retains Japanese service history and Shaken test certificates to confirm mileage.
The car is in beautiful condition externally, internally and mechanically. It runs and drives extremely well and as an ex-Japan car is about as free from corrosion as any 35 year old car can be. Good doorcards (usual W201 issue). Any and all inspections are welcomed to verify this.
Upon arrival in the UK the car underwent a thorough service and no-expense-spared overhaul with a noted MB specialist.
- full fluid changes - coolant, brake fluid, engine, gearbox, steering & diff oils.
- new front shocks and top mounts, new lower control arm ball joints
- rear suspension rose joints
- transmission cooler oil lines
- exhaust manifold gaskets
- HT leads, plugs, engine mounts.
The wheels, though not in bad condition, were refurbished, ceramic coated and fitted with new Michelin Cross Climate 2 tyres in 185/ 65/ 15 V. The spare wheel has never been fitted.
Recent bills in the service file for the above work and more amount to over £4250.
The factory-fit BEHR air-conditioning was regassed and is fully working, as is the Tempomat cruise control.
The car is garage-kept and has only been driven on dry days, as well as being SORN in winter. There is also a set of 5 W201 steel wheels and old tyres for standing the car on during winter.
The rear windows have a tint film on them from Japan which I have not removed and the car also sports a set of original MB wind deflectors.
The car has a Bluetooth capable radio and some Kenwood speakers fitted but the original speakers and covers come with the car and I can supply a period-correct Becker if the asking price is met.
Also included at the asking price is a set of W201-specific genuine MB roof bars with keys and some 190E spares I have gathered.
In my experience it is easier and cheaper in the long-run to buy an excellent, original car like this that will hold its value if carefully maintained than it is to buy a cheaper car which requires extensive work.
