Description

I bought this bike from auction in December 2024 to take to the Elephant Rally in Germany. It was a non runner but I quickly fixed by cleaning the carbs and add some new float needles. I had it MOT'd by a local garage and it passed with no advisories. I then rode it 1812 miles to Germany and back in January quite an adventure and it didnt miss a beat. The bike itself is a standard 2004 790cc Carb Bonneville. The sidecar is a Canterbury although it looks similar to the Watsonian Prescott I think. It has leading links forks made by unit, and a steering damper which makes it actually quite a nice ride compared to some outfits I have had. I fitted new Continental TKC80s all round when I MOT'd in December. I also have a number of spares for the bike including some other exhausts and down pipes and a Triumph Touring Screen, and a Dart little head light screen. Neither are fitted to the bike, but come with it, I prefer the look of it without the screen but the touring screen was great when I was on the autobahn with it. I also have a pram hood for the sidecar along side the Tonneau cover that I normally keep on it. Mechanically its sound starts and runs on the button. The is a sidecar foot brake as well as the normal front and rear brakes which are setup for a disabled rider both brakes are on the handle bar by the throttle and you can use both or either, the front brake being the top one. The system is called Kilktronic, it also has the equipment for electronic gear change as well although this is not fitted it is included in the sale. I have a complete history folder including the original paper for the brake conversion and the bill of sale from Triumph. Any inspection welcome.

The bad bits are that there is a small dent on the tank, scratches to the front and rear of the sidecar mudguard, and some flaky paint on the front mudguard. None of it massive, generally the bike looks good but is obvs 20 years old so some general bits of rust in the heads of bolts and so on, nothing substantial or a bit of tic wouldn't fix. If you have had a sidecar particularly a bright red one you will know what great conversation starters they are. Whenever you stop you will get into a chat about what it is etc etc. and on a sunny day they are great fun.

The bike was purchased from Pidocks in Mapperly in 2004 and the PDI is included with sale. The sidecar and the leading link forks were added in 2008 from Hedingham.

The bike was refurbished in 2020, and I have serviced it, added new tyres changed the oil and plugs and added a set of refurbished carbs in December 2024.
