Description
1981 Mercedes 280 SL with rare Manual Transmission, Factory fit Air Conditioning and sump guard. The Vehicle was purchased new from Mercedes Benz UK in UK Specification and sent to Kenya as a Diplomatic purchase where it remained for 6 years. Following its return to the UK it remained there until 2002 before going to the Isle of Man. The Original Owner kept the Vehicle for 35 years until I purchased it in 2016. In 2017 the Vehicle was sent to The SL Shop who fitted a reconditioned steering box whilst it was with them. The Vehicle was subject to a complete body overhaul in 2018 by AMK Engineering and has been kept mechanically in good condition whilst in my ownership. A full list of mechanical work undertaken is available from 2016, prior to that there are many Mercedes dealer service stamps in the book. Recent mechanical work includes new front springs from the SL Shop, 4 new tyres and front brake discs. The Vehicle retains its original fire extinguisher, first aid kit, tool kit and handbooks. Please note the Vehicle was supplied new with a speedo in Kilometres, this was changed at 99831 kilometres 16 May 1991 by Normand of Bristol Mercedes dealer, the total mileage covered is approx 134, 000 miles from new.
