Once owned by a well known rally/ racing driver, I purchased BSK 235 with a view to rallying or hill climbing the car, myself, however, due to a change of circumstances, I decided to keep it as a road car and for the last 10 years have enjoyed using it for attending car meets, shows and touring the South of England.
No expense has been spared in keeping the MGA in tip top condition both bodily and mechanically and it is totally rust free with excellent paintwork and interior. Although now, only used as a reliable road car, it still has some rally upgrades, which are all removable, should the new keeper require a less sporty look.
During its competition years, the car competed in several rallies, including the Monte Carlo, Rome - Liege - Rome, Acropolis and Rally to the Nile, in which it usually achieved some measure of success. ( I have the original rally notes which I will pass on with the car.)
On the safety side, a removable roll over bar and fire extinguisher are still fitted along with period Carello spotlights, a rear fog light, harnesses and an engine cut-out switch.
Mechanically the engine has a gas- flowed head, Kent camshaft and recently rebuilt carburettors and benefits from an overdrive gearbox, making it a very useable sporty drive. Recent new discs, callipers and adjustable shock absorbers make for a great handling yet safe and comfortable ride.
Full weather equipment comes with the car, including a tailored hood to fit the removable roll over bar, a tonneau cover and side screens. Currently the car sits on chrome wire wheels with almost new Vredestein Sprint tyres but also supplied with it comes a set of black powder coated wire wheels with Avon tyres.
Included in the sale are the original front and rear bumpers, original steering wheel, hood and frame as well as a new radiator and various other spare parts.
Much as I have thoroughly enjoyed owing the MGA and am somewhat reluctant to sell it I now have other commitments which leaves me little time to use it.
