Description
Very original and attractive 1957 750 Normale spider. Lovely early example with correct 1290cc DOHC engine with single solex carburettor and front mounted water pump and single air intake. 4 speed gear box with aluminium differential housing. Finned aluminium brake drums. Pininfarina body with all original beautifully detailed door finishes and interior fittings and gauges. The car was restored to a high standard whilst in Portugal. Bodywork, chrome, seats, interior carpets and hood remain in good lightly used condition. Subsequent maintenance work carried out by R M Restorations including full brake cylinder and shoe overhaul, cylinder head gasket replacement and reconditioned distributor new coil and condenser and new clutch thrust bearing. The car is a delight to drive with lovely smooth gear box and suprisingly torquey and lively engine. Whilst happiest switchbacking through country lanes 70 mph can easily be maintained on motorways. Visibility is excellent and the left hand drivers position easily compensated for on UK roads. Purchased from a Portuguese collector by Richard Norris of Classic Alfa who I in turn bought it from in 2014. The car had been restored to a high standard whilst in Portugal. The car has covered 9000 kilometres since its restoration. The Pininfarina design is achingly beautiful whilst the interior detailing evokes all the best of 1950’s style.
