Description

This Audi S4 Avant has 6 former keepers, and is a 4. 2L V8 delivering low down power through a 6spd ZF tiptronic box and Quattro all wheel drive. This gives you the advantage of an Auto for most urban driving, with a sport option for the faster roads... but when you want to drive, the box can be switched to the tiptronic paddles behind the steering wheel, and you can keep the power in the gear you want, and decide when to change up, or down, to hear that V8 burble. The car has 339bhp with a 0-100km/ h (62mph) = 5. 8sec and torque @410Nm, plenty fast enough for modern traffic.

I have recently fitted (Dec 24) a cat back, non resonated, Miltek, stainless steel exhaust, and a Maxton Design front splitter and boot lid flick, in a carbon pattern, to lift the styling, front & rear. The previous owner added the window tints, and the colour change on the alloys to match the lower door trim.

The mechanic who serviced/ MOT'd the car could not believe the condition of the car, as the fit and finish of Audi's of this generation are superbly built. All of the shut lines and bodywork is stunning for the age of the car, and mileage.

I bought this car to experience the V8 sound, power, and speed. Cars like the S4, with a large capacity V8, are not built any longer, and with the Zero Emissions mandate killing off a lot of naturally aspirated engines, now was the time to buy. The naughties era of Audi cars being brilliantly built, the previous owner of the car wanted it to go to someone who would look after it. The car did have some issues when I bought it, an oil leak, ABS fault, and anti-roll bar bushes. The oil leak was traced by an Audi Specialist to a cracked oil sensor housing, a new ABS sensor, and the anti-roll bar bushes replaced for its MOT.

The Avant body style swallows a lot of gear - we went walking in the lakes with dog, in-laws and luggage. The A4 also swallows the miles on a long run (60 litre tank), with the rare grey, electric memory Recaro Seats, being heated for comfort, with dual zone climate to help warm the cabin. The original Audi radio retains the authenticity with the Bose sound system, although I will include an Android head unit that fits the centre console, without the need for a trim panel, as part of the sale. Fans of Top Gear, and petrol heads will remember the German car manufacturers fighting it out for sales with large capacity V8's, prior to the rise of diesel. The S4 was birthed in this era, so any genuine petrol head will be drawn to the power delivery of this car, with the quattro sure footed handling for the UK's pot-holed roads.

On buying the car, there are 16 stamps in the service book, with a full spark plug service at 177699 miles (01/ 02/ 24). There is also a folder of invoices for a variety of repairs, servicing, and general maintenance, including a gearbox overhaul (July 24) new water pump (Aug 22), various oil seals, brake hoses, rocker cover refurbishment,

One thing to note from the records, however, is a dispute regarding sill damage from a garage repair dated 02/ 07/ 24, where a failed suspension coil cup caused a problem on the ramp. I have bought sill replacement trims, as this is what the previous vendor stated required repair, but have not had this investigated further. I will include the sills in the sale of the car.

Despite this, the car presents astonishingly well, with a full years MOT for you to enjoy the car. Washing the car is a pleasure as the water beads well and the paint gleams. The S4 gives a mix of practical modern classic, that can be used daily, alongside the sports car waiting to be unleashed.

I am selling due to buying another V8 that I have had my eye on for a while, and I have been weighing up if I can keep both... but I want the new owner to enjoy the full year MOT. Tax or the 2024 year is £410 (changes April 1st), being in the highest band. You benefit from the year the car was registered, as cars from 2006, are charged £300 more. Insurance is reasonable for a 339bhp sport estate, with a limited top speed of 155mph. (These engines can be mapped for a bit more power, and to remove the limiter).

If you are tempted, go for it.
