Rare opportunity to buy a stunning example of a Tiger Cat E1, genuine 1 owner car from new since 2006. Most kit cars have gone through several owners in that amount of time. This is a very reluctant sale.
Built by me over the winter of 2005/ 2006, SVA tested and road registered in July 2006. On an age related plate due to using a donor Ford Sierra from year 1989 `G` during the build. You could therefore affix a private plate unlike with Q plated cars. I am a car enthusiast and a member of several car clubs including Tiger Owners Club, East Anglia Tiger Owners Club.
Spec: standard Tiger Cat E1 chassis, only 7, 939 miles from build, aluminium side panels painted black to match the black GRP bodywork, 2. 0 Zetec phase 2 Silver top engine with Kent Fast road cams, Vernier adjustable cam pulleys, lightweight Formula Ford flywheel, Megajolt programmable ECU, Kawasaki ZX6R J1 carbs with TPS on a Dan ST inlet manifold, shortened sump, Ford Type 9 5 speed gearbox, full Tiger exhaust system with larger Tiger repackable 6 inch silencer, upgraded Tiger rollbar, windscreen & wipers, smaller flat bottomed steering wheel, full set of Tiger dials, Tiger pad seats (which are fixed to the floor), 15 inch Fox Alloy wheels with Toyo tyres, VW Polo alloy radiator, dominator headlamps, rear lights & all indicators upgraded to LED, original Tiger carbon dash, 12v twin USB socket with voltmeter, Caterham style dash switches, 4 point harnesses, Battery isolator switch, fire extinguisher. Includes Tiger side screens/ doors and a home made rain/ sun canopy. Lockable boot storage space. I haven`t dyno`d it for many years but it was around 170 to 175 bhp. The car has never been on a track.
I have maintained the car myself, servicing it and completing any upgrades. The cambelt was last changed during the winter of 2020/ 21 and was only changed due to time on car, not for mileage. The water pump was also replaced at the same time.
Throughout the 19 years I have owned this car it has been absolutely cherished only ever being driven for 6 months of the year from either April or May and then SORN`d each winter. It has been permanently garaged and never driven in rain or on wet roads intentionally. It has been a regular visitor to many car shows where it gets lots of attention. I originally built the car using a 2. 0 pinto engine but then swapped to the zetec engine over winter 2006/ 07. The car has continued to be upgraded over the years with over £11, 000 spent. The V5 shows the car correctly registered as a Tiger with engine number matching and registered to me.
MOT just done, expires on 25/ 4/ 26. Mileage may increase a little If the weather improves. There is a huge pile of history paperwork with the car including all of the build receipts, SVA papers, donor vehicle proof, all old MOT`s and receipts galore for upgrades completed over the years. I have spent far more on the car than what it is for sale at.
This Tiger is in super condition but obviously being 19 years old does have some paint chips and marks. These cars flick stones up very easily!
I`m 6ft 3 and so built the car around my height. The seats are bolted to the floor and cannot be moved. However, different seats could be fitted. The car also uses a Sierra pedal box but the pedals were cut, bent backwards & welded giving extra leg room. This is a very common modification on these cars. The pedals, pad seats (meaning you sit lower) and the flat bottom steering wheel have allowed me to drive long distance comfortably. Fuel tank is standard Tiger 27 litres.
The Toyo tyres have plenty of tread left and are in perfect order but you may wish to change them due to their age. The front cycle wings show signs of cracking which is common on these cars from stones hitting them underneath. One is worse than the other but I do have one spare brand new black cycle wing that will be included with the car. The RPM counter is also not working currently, could be just a signal wire/ pick up issue as it has been intermittent for a while.
The photo`s were taken on 29/ 3/ 25 and accurately show the current condition of the car. I am only selling as I have just had the opportunity to buy a bucket list car. I will be extremely sad to see this go as it has been part of the family. I would prefer that it went to another car enthusiast. Serious enquiries only, no tyre kickers. Tiger is located in Leicestershire. Just to confirm, this car is not an import, has no adverse history, has no finance owing and has never been in an accident. The `vehicle background` questions have been auto populated incorrectly!
