Description
For sale my amazing Series II Land Rover.
Completely original and low mileage for its age. Stored in a barn for much of its life I’m told, which explains the good condition it is in today given it has never been restored.
This is a very early unmolested Series II. First registered in Nov-58, so in the first few months of Land Rover switching from the Series I to the Series II.
Very little has changed on this Landy since it came out of the factory. It has the Land Rover upgrade option of the oil and indicator panel on the dash, as well as original Smith’s heater.
It starts on the button and runs really well. It is use weekly for the school run and trips to the local town. I have videos of us driving it, but can’t seem to upload them to this advert. Please WhatsApp me and I will send!
I bought this as a ‘running restoration’. I wanted one that was completely original that ran reliably on day one, but could be resorted over the years. Ultimately at the moment life with a small family has got the better of me, and I need to pass this amazing vehicle on to someone else to look after.
It comes with the hard cab top. I took this off at the start of last summer and never put it back on. Even in the winter it is best driven open top, amazing feeling and you get a lot of waves!
It comes with the original user manual and workshop manual, which are works of art in their own right. Also very useful, as these are far more detailed than modern Haynes manuals with their hard to read photos. Hand drawn exploded diagrams of almost every component. This Landy is perfect for someone like me who was looking for a Landy that can run them about the village on day one, but you are sat on something which is totally original, so will find the time one day to restore it.
It comes with the original log book, which shows it started life in Dorset. I bought it from Dorset and all the paper work has Dorset addresses on it, which suggests it never left Dorset! Now with us in Sussex.
Not on the original plates as you will see, but I’m told the DVLA will issues a period plate on request. Original reg is noted in log book as ‘269 CYC’
