Description
BMW R75/ 7 1977
Genuine 5, 500 miles from new!
This bike was bought by the previous owner at the Stafford Classic Bike show auction in April 1994 with delivery mileage only. He had it recommissioned with new carbs, oil, brake fluid etc and used it sparingly covering only 2, 700 miles before I purchased it. This mileage is supported by the old MOT certificates.
It even has the original factory supplied BMW towel, tyre pump, toolkit and unused German puncture repair kit!
I bought this bike in late 2021 with the intention of fully refurbishing it, however after a thorough clean and inspection I decided to keep the original patina and only replace and repaint essential items. It is only original once and I believe that I have retained this originality by only undertaking the following work :-
Rebuild both wheels with stainless steel spokes and nipples
Fit new stainless steel exhaust pipes
Fit good S/ H stainless steel silencers
Repaint front mudguard (which was badly scratched by previous owner)
Fit new Avon Roadrider tyres, tubes and rim tapes
Change engine oil and filter
Drop engine sump to check and clean oil pump strainer (unnecessary as it turned out)
Replace gearbox, rear drive and front fork oils
Replace rusty handlebars
Install new air filter
Fit second disc with genuine BMW calliper, brake pipes and splitter
Install appropriate R80 BMW master cylinder
Replace fuel pipes, points and condenser
Install Sure Foot side stand
This your chance to purchase a “nearly new” and original 1977 BMW. Perfect for your Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride this year.
It carries its age well and it’s brakes are now much more suitable for current traffic conditions. It provides the rider with the genuine 1970’s experience, especially once you have mastered the correct technique for changing gear. This bike is happy around country lanes as well as motorway cruising and will happily run at the legal limit all day.
