A unique opportunity to acquire a award winning restored and rare original 1966 Mustang Coupe GT European import (Switzerland) with just c51, 000 original miles. It was built in Fords Metuchen, New Jersey Plant.
This car has had a no expense spared restoration. When I purchased this car the original speedometer read 81, 300km. I recently replaced the speedometer for MPH hence low mileage reading. I retain the original speedo. This fully restored ground up rebuild (2019-2021) is truly a one of a kind original GT 289 V8 (Engine code A). It was originally exported to Switzerland where it remained until c1974 when it was exported to the UK. This is why the suffix is N and not D. It remained on the road in the UK until c1985. It is believed it remained off road until it was purchased at auction in 2019. The restoration pictures tell you more than I can tell you here. But to mention a couple of things pictures don't show I've had the rear light cluster and indicators front and rear replaced with LED lights, Stainless Headers and 2" Stainless Exhaust. I still have the original GT exhaust tips although not fitted. From research it is believed that less than 1000 1966 Mustangs were sold in Switzerland and of that number just a few were GT's. This is an original GT built at Fords New Jersey Plant for the European Export Market. This car was one of the last of the 1966 models, being built in July 1966. It is said Ford didn't sell many Mustangs to Europe because of high fuel costs at the time. They were reserved for the wealthy folk. They sold more to American service personnel in Germany than the whole of Europe with favourable repatriation costs when they returned home. Cars destined for Germany public were coded T5 and not sold as Mustangs due to copyright infringement. All cars destined for Europe (except military personnel cars) had to have modification upgrades to help deal with the poor roads. This car was originally silver with black Vinyl roof. Looks like previous owners re painted the car. Car is now back in its original data tag colour ex the Vinyl. This car won Best American Classic in 2024 (see photos).
MOT due 1st August. I will sell it with a full 12 months MOT if required.
