For sale my beautiful classic Series 3 Land Rover short wheel base.
I bought this in 2024 already restored by previous owner and have enjoyed the last 12 months gradually improving it and enjoying with my family.
The previous owner resprayed the car to a very high standard (in my opinion) and changed the colour from Black to Land Rover Green. At the same time new front footwells where welded into place. The bulkhead is in good condition - see pictures.
The car is a petrol model and the engine runs without fault. I have recently changed the starter solenoid as it was sluggish to turn over - now it spins up quickly and starts on the button. The engine runs on a Weber carb. Gearbox works as it should - the car will occasionally jump out of 2nd gear but only on the overrun.
When I bought the car it was running on Discovery wheels but I sourced the correct Series wheels and added these, painting them correct period off white.
I also sourced and added the front bonnet carrier and added a spare wheel for that authentic Land Rover look.
The rear of the car was in poor condition when I purchased it. I cleaned and painted the rear, added carpet and then the two rear bench seats and seatbelts (my kids love it!).
The hood has been replaced at some point with an Exmoor item and it is in excellent condition. In the summer it is perfect for open top (side!) motoring.
The chassis appears original and I have kept it clean and waxoyled to protect from the elements. Its in great condition. The only improvement you could make is to one of the support brackets on on the rear floor panel - £29 from Britpart and they bolt on.
Overall this is a beautiful Series 3 - whether its summer car shows, trips to pub, out with the kids/ dogs or wading through snow - this is a great car!
Only selling because Im storing it outside under a cover and not using it enough - time to move on to a new home
