Description
Car Does run. Spares or Repair. Excellent engine and gearbox. Unfortunately, the car is suffering some electronic issues. I suspect these are all linked, probably to a single cause.
The issue when driven: ESP warning light comes on. This triggers intermittent ABS warning light. Amber rear suspension light then comes on at some point and shortly after, speedometer stops working, coupled with large red flashing stop warning. Car still drives perfectly well at this point, albeit the dash looks like a Christmas tree with flashing lights everywhere!
I suspect a speed / suspension sensor may be the cause. It could be the battery (needs replacing), or the rear suspension set up (front air struts replaced last year) or something else! I just don't have the time to investigate. Hence, the car is not used and and beginning to looking sad. MOT lapsed in January.
Given issues, will need trailering away.
There are other issues (( for example, but not limited to: small dent in rear bumper, missing front fog grill ( I have a replacement pair but not fitted), cracked door window (again, I have replacement but not fitted) missing NSF inner wheel liner ('lost' but not replaced by my friendly garage after presenting me with a £6k bill) etc. etc)) which I'm happy to discuss directly, if you're interested. The car's not perfect, but not a complete basket case either.
Looking for less than half Car&Classic's 'good' valuation. It's a bit of a project, but these getting pretty rare now. Please, no silly offers, as I know what the engine is worth on its own, if you chose not to fix and break her.
Audi Service to 73K and then a big wadge of bills from independents. When working properly, this a beautiful car to drive! I've owned S class Mercedes and 7 series BMW's... I'd say the Audi is the best of the bunch.
Remember, this was a £100, 000+ supercar when new!
This is still a real head turner of a car... even now, I get guys pull up next to me at traffic lights (in their flash new cars), wind down their window and ask with excitement 'Is that a W12!' I took the car to Italy last year and stopped off in Southern Germany on the way home. By coincidence, there must have been a local race competition going on nearby, as the hotel car park had many cars with single seaters on trailers parked up. When I came to leave, I found a group of Germans gathered around the W12! You'd think the Germans had seen a few Audi's in their time!
There can only be a handful of these left in the UK now, so why not grab yourself an appreciating asset at a knock down price. In concours condition (I know, I know, its far from that), it's worth c£20k.
A lack of time and suitable storage are all that prevent me from hanging on to her.
