This would be an ideal starter classic that can be used and improved as you see fit.
Since purchasing this car last autumn, I have re-commissioned it and got it running and driving nicely and it has seen gentle use on dry days over the last few months.
The car seems to have spent most of its life in Dorset, according to the good history file. I believe the mileage indicated my well be accurate, although can't definitively confirm this.
The previous owner was, I believe, an engineer and he carried out some welding repairs to the car, and it is in very solid structural condition. He also re-painted it - this was not done to such a high standard, and the paint is rather flat and peeling in several places. This could be re-done, or left as is if the cosmetics don't matter so much to you. The chromework is good however, and the interior is in honest original condition. The parcel shelf could do with tidying, and there are stains in the original vinyl headlining, but overall it is very respectable for a 63-year-old car.
Mechanically, the car runs well with excellent oil pressure. I have adjusted the brakes properly so they now stop the car well, and there are no unnerving noises coming from anywhere. The fluids are all recent. The gearbox does seem to have weak synchro between second and third, but this is easily overcome with a bit of rev-matching. Within the last 5000 miles it has had a full brake rebuild, plus a re-cored radiator.
Recently I have replaced the past-their-best tyres that were on the car with a nearly-unused set from my Morris Minor, which are in excellent condition.
There is a V5C in my name plus a decent history file.
Overall, this is a good usable car with scope to improve the cosmetics should you so wish. It's only for sale as I have too many projects and not enough space! I can possibly deliver the car by separate arrangement.
