Description
Rare 500 big port.
Ex speedway bike now converted for road use but full speedway kit retained and included in sale.
In speedway form the bike was running on methanol (through an 850 jet in a type 27 carburettor).
Runs on Castrol R via separate oil tank.
Engine runs well. Currently using a 350 three speed gearbox for road use (500 box is 1 speed for speedway) and converted to petrol with a needle jet in the type 27. Easy to convert back. Overall the bike still needs a bit of fettling to make friendlier in this form.
Has a dating certificate and v5C registration document for age related number.
There is spare race prepared 500 special engine comprising the robust side vale bottom end coupled with the over-head valve sports top end. This is believed to be unused. Built using Castrol R. The prior owner of the G8 said the bike had been used by Jack Brantom as a dirt tracker and speedway bike. His son Dave Brantom later rode it in VMCC grasstrack events.
Clearly a lot of non-original parts but a great fun bike with tons of go.
