With a very heavy heart I’m putting my Mercedes Benz 500 SL R107 1983 for sale.
Unmarked paint (not a spec) in Silver with contrasting mustard/ light brown cloth and leather interior with mahogany wood and chrome trimmings.
I have owned this 6 years along side many super cars and classics but never got the attention or love I’ve gotten in this.
I purchased from a friend of mine who owned her 6 years too so in the family over a decade now.
When I purchased the car it was in immaculate condition but someone had ran a sharp item around the whole car taking it to the metal.
The last picture is of the car when I purchased it, you can’t see the scratches in the photo as the car is silver but you can see it was in excellent condition pre respray.
Being badly scratched I took the opportunity to take the car including hardtop back to bare metal to make sure there was no hidden surprises, there was not thankfully.
New period 17 inch Penta alloys with new tyres and replaced the tired old shocks and springs with Bilsteins alloys around.
The original 4 Mexican hat wheels with mint tyres are in my barn and come with the car if the Pentas are not to one’s liking.
The original cloth roof is immaculate as it spent most of its life garaged and when out in the winter always with the hardtop.
The interior is in great condition except for the drivers seat which has worn and torn on a small section, and some dirt to the passenger seat.
I was going to re trim this year but a new baby and new car on the way has now sadly made me reevaluate what I must prioritise.
Matching rear seats with belts from factory in immaculate condition very rare.
Period genuine Mercedes mahogany steering wheel but I still have the original.
Matching Original Mercedes mahogany gearshift but I’ve not fitted.
The underside of the vehicle is solid and doesn’t have any rot in the common spots.
Currently @ 106, 000 miles.
I purchased it in 2019 @ 99, 000 miles.
The engine has been serviced every year in my ownership, last service being in November consisting of plugs, filters and oil.
New rocker cover gaskets in November.
Car is good for 10-15k although I serviced every year only doing around 2k max.
The gearbox changes are smooth and the car pulls very well keeping up with all modern day traffic.
Electric windows.
CD Bluetooth stereo.
Rare factory optional extra Air conditioning.
It doesn’t consume any oil or smoke.
I’ve driven the car all over the UK and with the cruise control it’s an absolute delight.
I have always MOT’d the car even now it is now TAX, MOT and ULEZ exempt.
With the black plates you don’t need to pay congestion or dart charges either
