Due to moving abroad i unfortunately have to sell my 1987 Volvo 240 GLE. Ive owned this car June 2023 and now its time for someone else to enjoy it. It has two previous owners, though i consider it one really. A gentleman bought it brand new in Slough, then sold it after giving up driving to the next owner who had it for a few months before i got it.
The speedo reads 53, 000 miles, but in 2002 it had it replaced (with a sticker in the door jamb), so its true mileage is 202, 000 miles. It has a complete service history, with paperwork dating back to the 90s! I serviced it at home a few months ago, which i think is probably the first time it has ever been serviced outside of a dealer.
Mechanically the car is perfect, its never given me any issues and it runs well. Cosmetically the car has seen better days though. The bodywork has some dents and scratches around it, there is rust on the rear wheel arches, and some MOT advisory rust for the rear jacking points. There is also some advisories for less serious problems, but these are easily fixed. The front passenger door lock sticks, so will often not lock with the central locking, but you can manually lock this.
The car has a fresh 12m MOT on it.
PLEASE NOTE; The private number plate will be removed from the car before selling, and the original (D249 XJM) will be put back on the car. I may consider selling it with the car though for the right price. This car wont win prizes, but whenever i drive it i always get compliments and people coming up to talk about it, and their memories of old Volvos. Its never left me stranded, and if you look after it, itll look after you. I recently installed some Hella for lights with the yellow lenses which look wonderful at night. I wouldve kept the car, but due to moving it doesnt make sense to keep anymore.
