If you are looking for a Commando which starts on the button and stops on a sixpence, but in between will put a grin on your face at 60mph on a twist country road, then this is the machine for you.
For sale is a fast rider's bike with a 920cc conversion kit, Alton starter, 14" Norvil disc, 4 pot Brembo brake calliper, 12. 7mm bore master cylinder and Boyer Bransden electronic ignition. The machine is fitted with an anti-backflow valve to the oil supply pipe to prevent wet sumping and an oil pressure gauge to give peace of mind that lubrication is working correctly. The bike is also fitted with a spin-on oil filter and sits on new steel rims with Dunlop Road Runner tyres.
The bike has too many new parts to list but these include: seat, tank (alloy) side panels headlight shell, handlebars, grips, cables, Amal carburettors and stainless steel rims & mudguards. All oils are fresh including new filter. I bought the bike from a friend of the man who built it in 2014-15, the latter unable to complete the project due to illness. It required a small amount of work to finish. I fitted the Brembo calliper and smaller bore front brake master cylinder I wanted more effective stopping power than the original Norton mastercylinder and twin pot AP Racing calliper offered. I would say that the speedometer reading should not been relied upon. If I wanted to make the bike really sharp in appearance I might renew the header pipes and silencers. They have no rust but the headers are 'bluing' and one silencer has a small ding from the kick-starter, but neither bothers me.
