Description
I’m selling ‘Primrose’ which I have owned since 2006 with great sadness. Soon I will be moving and simple will not have the garage space.
‘Primrose’ is painted in BL Pale Primrose – the look of the car just exudes the swinging sixties and is a real head turner.
She was restored and set up by Northampton Motor Sport some time before I purchased her and since then she has been maintained to a good standard and had a further engine rebuild by Bannister Engines to complete the full lead-free conversion with an uprated crank oil seal.
With the Frontline set up for suspension she drives like she is on rails and the Cooper S head with an Oselli Torquemaster manifold and Aldon electronic ignition’ including a Cooper S distributor, together with an LCB exhaust, a reliable 84 HP is delivered. That’s over a 40% increase on the standard car and this is easily handled by the front disk brakes.
I run this on a single 1 ¾ Inch SU carburettor as a good balance between performance and economy but I have used twin 1 ½ Inch SU in the past and this increases the acceleration at the expense of fuel economy. The later model 3. 9 differential fitted also helps with the car’s overall performance.
Internally the car is in an original condition with the rare bucket seats finished in leather and inertia reel seatbelts fitted. As my set up is for touring I have added a larger wood steering wheel when a new steering box was fitted, and the bucket seats have some additional lumber support.
The hood is serviceable but to be honest it mostly lives in the boot and only comes out in times of need.
The mileage shown is since the last engine rebuild.
Over the years we have enjoyed many runs together including Classic Le Mans, Coast to Coast, Manchester-Blackpool and circuits like Prescott Hill Climb, Silverstone [the day I ran out of fuel on the circuit!], MIRA, Millbrook, Rockingham and others.
