Description

1968 Harley Davidson XLCH ‘XLR Replica’
This bike was being built into an ‘as raced’ looking XLR replica. I have a 72 in a similar style but I fancied an earlier short frame Sportster in the XLR style. Unfortunately this one has come to a standstill so it’s best to let someone else take over.
I’ve listed all the details below-

1968 XLCH
Original tank painted in Harley Orange and off white with decals by Flakeys paint studio.
New replica rear mudguard that has been cut down and shaped as per XLR spec with Harley orange.
New 18” Bates Baja 100 tyres.
New inner tubes.
New shrouded shocks.
New replica Ironhead China oil tank- if you are not familiar with this guy check him out- really great/ correct replica parts- W&W sell his parts. The oil tank will need mounting and painting. It is just resting in place.
New Ironhead China Laconia bars- correct internal spirals etc- once again- high quality parts- check out them out on W&W.
New internal throttle cable.
New advance and retard Cable.
New Waffle grips.
New solo XLR/ XLCH seat
New Seat bracket and internal frame/ seat springs.
New drilled kicker pedal.
New XLR replica exhausts from The Gasbox. I have these on my other XLR replica and they are nice items.
There are some other parts that I didn’t photograph-
Replica steering dampener as per XLR.
A little side mount number plate bracket and light.. not very XLR but a registration plate will be required to use on the road.
There are probably some other bits and bobs in the box, oil tank decals and such. I think the peg rubbers were new too.. I cant remember.
V5C is present in my name.
The bike has the magneto, correct forks, front drum, early forks and yokes,
The bike did run briefly when I got it but that was a few years back so I am not offering any sort of guarantees of a running engine.
The engine was run very briefly on a different carb, I have not tested gears or clutch.
I was keeping it I would be taking the motor apart to have a look inside but who knows, it may run just peachy with a bit of fettling but for the avoidance of doubt the bike is being sold as a non runner.
The bike is currently at my friends Harley shop in Bromsgrove so it will need to be collected from there and collection would have to be 9-5 monday to Friday ( if this is a big issue we can work something out I’m sure)
This is a project bike, it is an easy project in the grand scheme of things but it will require some work, some parts, maybe a bit of light fabrication and some patience to get on the road.
They are great fun when they are done though!
