Description
I am a Marlin Owners Club person who fancied a change after rebuilding several Marlin Roadsters.
The Geep was rescued from a Welsh mountainside and taken to Gainsborough in November 2021.
The work stopped in 2024 due to a need to rebuild my workshop, meantime my age of 81 has caught up with me such that bending and/ or floor grovelling is no longer achievable
Jago has been totally stripped, rebuilt with new build steel front part of chassis and both bumpers.
The original wiring loom has been stripped, tidied, and refitted, dashboard refurbished, loads of new parts, and both front legs have been stripped and rebuilt
New front subframe, the engine was rebuilt with honed bores, new bearings and a rebuilt head - it is NOT unleaded, and was running fine before the ignition problem.
The gearbox/ back axle seem OK but are unknown, and a new clutch is fitted, but untried as the brakes are not done. Powder coated wheels with new tyres.
The body is as taken off the mountain, somewhat patina'd, looks better in the pics !
No roof, but there are two used doors which I bought but have not fitted
A new marine ply floor has been made and fitted. The leather seats are from a Hyundai Coupe.
The fuel tank was replaced with a used one, however the wiring seems not to work
for the fuel gauge (incompatibility?).
The windscreen wiper motor has been overhauled, and new arms and blades are included.
What does it need ?
1 Fuel pump to be sorted, it has been replaced but....
2 Ignition not working, needs fault finding, distributor refitting etc. it’s probably something
simple. There are new points and condenser to be to put in.
3 Brake master cylinder has been overhauled and is ready to be refitted. All the pipes are
there, needs connecting, filling and bleeding.
4 Wiring ie lighting etc all in and working. The lights will need to be adjusted
Realistically, a few day’s work should see it ready for MoT
The original radiator has been refitted, and the video clip shows it when running last year.
Note that a new rad and electric fan are not fitted but will come with the car.
I have over 300 pictures taken during the rebuild. This is a stalled total rebuild, with a little work it will be ready for MoT.
I have said "yes" to structural issues in the background above so as to be completely truthful. The front part of the chassis has been rebuilt, as described the description above
