Welcome to the sale of my Jaguar XJ / XJ6 3. 0.

I bought the car about a year ago off a gentleman who was selling the car on behalf of a family friend, who had unfortunately got dementia. It was clear he was unlikely to be able to drive again but he adored the car and the family held onto it until his illness got too much and he forgot he even owned it...

The family friend also owns a Jaguar XJ himself and offered to help out his friend's wife in the sale of the car.

As a two owner car it stood out to me and the friend selling the car knew just how much the owner loved it.

My intention with the car was to get it to a very good standard and enjoy as a summer plaything, to sit alongside my Jaguar XJS V12 as a more practical alternative, but in reality life has got in the way and between a bunch of other cars in our collection (too many says the other half), a busy work life and having a narrowboat, I just haven't had time to do some of the jobs I wanted (mainly cosmetic).

I have got to the car to a point where it passed it's MOT in January 2025. It needed some brake lines, a driveshaft and some coolant items so not a bad list.

As is stands today it is much better than a "project" car - it has an MOT and you can use it daily (and indeed it would benefit from driving and using), but it certainly isn't a perfect example. The interior is in beautiful condition, the exterior paintwork less so.

As a drive it's lovely. The engine is smooth and silky, and quiet to the point of being inaudible at a cruise, and it just wafts and soothes on a journey. The gearbox changes gears without you feeling them and the whole things is just luxurious and pleasant to spend time in. It's an amazing car for the money I am asking!

It is a very fit and healthy car and clearly has years and years of service to give but as I say it isn't perfect.

There's no point in me writing a list of things to do to make it perfect but here are some things to note:
- the previous owner has rattle can painted some areas like the leading edge of the front wing and some of the rear bumper. A good flat and machine polish would help but attention to some of the paintwork is advisable
- the extreme corners of the bumpers have parking scratches
- after driving for about an hour a warning light with Suspension Fault sometimes comes up but the car doesn't drive any differently...
- the headlining has been replaced but is just starting to sag in a couple of places
- the parking sensors don't work
- the air con is 'cold' but not 'ice cold' so will need a top up of gas
- one key
- original Jaguar dealer book pack is present but the service book isn't

A few benefits to consider in buying this particular model:
- it is now 20 years old so can be insured on a classic car policy (as it is now with me) so insurance is very cheap
- because it is largely made from aluminium it is very light so it is very good on fuel and also very quick!
- the 3. 0 V6 engine is chain driven rather than cambelt so that's a good thing!!

This could easily be a £5, 000 car if you wanted to invest into it or you could just spend a weekend polishing and tidying the body up and just use it as it is for a cheap classic cruiser.

No lunatics please, no-one thinking the car is perfect, no PX. I've priced it cheaply for a quick no hassle sale so no offers thanks.
