1962 Ford Consul Cortina Mark 1

Up for sale is my rare and very early manufactured September 1962 Ford Consul Cortina 4 speed 1200, sold in 1963 by the Frank Chapman company of Plymouth whose badge is still riveted to the dashboard.
I have been told that this "Flat back" 2 door Consul Cortina is possibly the third oldest surviving Cortina example in the UK. These very early cars differ from the production versions that appeared in 1963 and are now truly collectable as very few survive.
Some of the differences on these early cars are the flat rear panel, rear bumper, round hole in the floor where the gearstick protrudes, the throttle linkage under the bonnet , Ford Anglia wheel rims etc,
I have spent the last 2 years overhauling this car which was found in a lock-up garage in Devon and has not been on the road for over 40 years and is now brought back to life.
The speedo reads just 34, 900, she drives lovely, and from the way the car drives and handles I believe the mileage is correct.
The last tax disc for 1983 is still in the windscreen.
New parts fitted include. Rear Gaz adjustable shock absorbers, wiper blades, Battery, complete brake rebuild including all copper pipes, new oil and filter, new old stock Ford rear exhaust, new anti-roll bar bushes, windscreen rubber, new Boot mat, new Alloy radiator, new front cross member, lower front panel, Sill sections, rear lower offside wing section with all metal work carried out to a very high standard. A wood rim Moto Lita type steering wheel compliments the interior(original included) new Aldridge door panels, and a lovely interior with seats recovered in grey with red piping
Bodywork carried out includes. A milk coat of Windsor Grey paint has been applied to the bottom of the car and applied by a skilled car painter, but the boot and roof have been left as found complete with scabs. I have tried to keep this car as original as possible. All metal work was also carried out to a high standard by a skilled fabricator with any rust cut out
The door gaps are spot on all the way round the car
Although fitted with a set of new Lotus Cortina type 5. 5J rims and new Toyo tyres, I have the original Ford Anglia type rims complete with Lattice-type wheel trims that come with the car. I also have the original big top radiator & the front & rear bumpers complete with brackets and, steering wheel that is also included in the sale.
Can be put back to make the car completely standard. No other modifications have been carries out.
