Description
Norton Commando Roadster. Built in 1970, this is the rarer "Halo Headlight" model. This bike was exported to Long Beach California on 05/ 06/ 70. Imported by myself in 2013. It was left to one side until 2018, when the restoration-rebuild began. If your looking for a factory original Commando this isnt it. If however you want a slightly customised bike, that has been updated with every possible technological improvement, please read on.
The 750cc Engine was rebuilt By Norton legend Norman White. It includes a PW3 cam, Bronze high torque clutch,(with seal modification)A Colorado Norton Works Breather machined into the block. Holland Norton Works anti wet sump valve, an on board breather tank is fitted preventing oil being blown everywhere. A custom oil filter assembly was added.(Oil changed February)Oil lines are by CNW. Exhaust ports have bronze inserts by Seger engineering & are wired. No more loose exhausts.
Custom front brake is a 6 pot caliper disc, by Don Pender. This bike stops.
Carburation is by a single 34mm Mikuni.
RGM Norton extended folding kickstart.
Lucas switchgear, minimal LED indicators. Single ignition pack, new custom loom built by the legend of Electrikery "Ferret"
The early frame was uprated to MK4. With extended side rest & braced swingarm, plus kegel clamps. The addition of the "Thruxton" cross brace, may have led Norman to stating "Its probably the best handling Commando Ive ridden"
The Original colour was Emerald Green. It has been refinished in a period Orange/ Gold Metalflake, similar to factory shade of fire-something or other.
Both Speedo & Tacho are GPS units. Mileage is approx 2500 miles.
LED rear light unit is by CNW.
The handlebars are original rechromed.
Front mudguard by CNW . Tyres are Avon Roadrunners.
Ignition is by Boyer. I think I have a new Pazon unit, which I will include.
Thats the original seat cover, It has a couple of small tears. I never had the heart to replace it.
Huge file of documents are naturally included. Totalling approx £10, 000, which doesnt cover half of it.
