Description
For Sale: (Project) 1955 Land Rover Series One (86-Inch Wheelbase)
I’m selling my much-loved 1955 Land Rover Series One. With its 2. 25 engine, Range Rover differentials, and rare van-style hardtop (no side windows), this vehicle is truly special. I’ve owned it since 2002 and enjoyed it thoroughly, but I no longer have the time to it needs to put a new wiring loom into the car and finish installing the new fuel tank.
Key Details:
Engine & Performance: Fitted with a 2. 25 engine and Range Rover differentials for improved performance over standard Series Ones. A fantastic driving experience for enthusiasts.
Condition: A project vehicle that requires a new wiring loom and connection of the custom-made fuel tank (the old tank rusted out). The dashboard has been removed in preparation for rewiring.
Modifications: Includes tasteful pre-2002 modifications: reinforced chassis, custom rounded front bumper, welded-shut bulkhead vents, strengthened tub, decorative roll bar (mounted to the tub), and some Series 2/ 3 parts. The benefit of this is that you don't have to pay a premium for some of the very rare Series 1 parts. These updates make it an enjoyable, and highly usable Series One without requiring excessive preservation efforts.
History: Originally owned by the Ministry of Supply, and likely used for light trialing in the 1970s or 1980s.
Condition Overview: Chassis in good condition, always garaged, and includes some spare parts and accessories. However, the vehicle is currently non-running and will require trailering away.
Additional Notes:
Perfect for those who appreciate a Series One with practical upgrades.
While the car isn’t for rivet-counting purists, it drives better than most Series Ones I’ve encountered.
Performed exceptionally well in the light off-roading I’ve done over the years.

This is one of those cars you car turn up anywhere in and it looks amazing. I've lost count of the amount of times a disgruntled dad gets frustrated because his son or daughter pays more attention to the Land Rover than their supercar - lol. With the roof off, doors off and the screen folded forward, on a hot day, there is no better exhilarating feeling. You hear the engine roar, it feels like you are doing 100mph, but you are well within the speed limit. It is sensational! This is an affordable way of getting into Series 1 Land Rovers, but without some of the disadvantages .
