The enamel on the hood frame and side-panel door slots are original i. e. 62 years old. HISTORY
The early history of the vehicle is shrouded in mystery; 1st registered in 1961 in the UK, it was said to have been shipped to South Africa and then reimported to the UK. The old logbook bears testament to its UK re-registration in the UK in 1978. by an owner eho kept it until 1996.
The vehicle was then fully restored in 1996 by Bromvyle Hall Garage of Woodbridge Suffolk from whom I acquired it in that same year. Since then the upgrades, bodywork and mechanical repairs have been undertaken by Dunham Restorations of Rudgwick, West Sussex.
he TR3A is the hairy-chested Triumph model that puts a smile on the face of every classic car enthusiast The combination of lightweight bodywork and powerful engine embodies the best of the ‘60s sports car world.
While some of the design is basic and decidedly old-school - side panels, rear suspension, steering box etc. - it also included unexpected mods for the era such as disc brakes and overdrive in second, third and fourth. Rack and pinion steering conversions are available but in my opinion pointless - surely you want the driving experience of the era or there IS no point.
469 BFJ is very smart and is ready to be used and enjoyed by its next owner. The buyer for this car will want to get behind the Les Leston steering wheel, press that starter, absorb the satisfying exhaust rumble, pull back on the flyaway handbrake, engage 1st (ensure overdrive switch is off) and thunder off down the road.
