** No Running Issues. The bike does not smoke, or burn excessive oil. Slight oil vapour from cylinder, never dripping. The engine is quiet and responsive throughout all throttle positions. All gears engage positively. Strong starter motor. No electronic faults. Routinely serviced. Lovely patina, and little to no signs of surface rust***
There aren’t many of these models left that are in such good condition as this example, and they rarely come up for sale in the UK, it always attracts attention. I searched for a long time to find a G/ S in the UK that hadn’t seen 37 winters. This example is by no means your average G/ S, having been worked on/ upgraded by specialist BMW mechanic James Sherlock. This is the original monolever, not the later paralever model.
Unfortunately the bike won’t get the use it deserves heading forward, as priorities have shifted. I wouldn’t hesitate to take it on any long distance trip, the most useable classic. Tax and mot exempt in two years time.
