The bodywork looks OK from 6 feet away but I reckon every panel has a scratch, mark or small ding of some sort - It’s certainly not a garage queen. Worst is the drivers door which is rusted at the bottom. There is also some rust under the O\S rear window and just above the bumper on the same panel. There has been a previous rust repair to the O\S cill/ inner wheel arch which isn’t the neatest, but other than that the underside is good.
There’s a spotlight mount bar on the front bumper with wiring to a relay under the hood but I’ve not tested this.
Tyres have loads of tread, the fronts are nearly new. They are a chunky 265/ 70/ 15 which rub slightly on full lock but not when general driving. Full sized spare with cover but the tyre is too big to mount it in the usual place. Wheels have lacquer peel.
The interior is generally pretty good. Drivers seat is worn but the rest are OK and no sagging to the headlining - it has a few marks here and there which would probably come out but I didn’t want to scrub at them in case it started sagging. Elsewhere most of the trim is pretty good.
I fitted a double din stereo fascia from Jeep Cables. I’m keeping the head unit but will leave the ISO wiring so easy to fit a similar one. I also have the original wood effect fascia with a single din adapter and also the original head unit (untested) so lots of options. Speakers have been upgraded - better than stock but nothing amazing.
There are a few niggles that I know of but haven’t investigated - the driver’s door switch doesn’t activate central locking (works fine from remotes). Electric mirrors, fog lights & air con don’t work. The full time 4WD light doesn’t work but all 4WD modes are working.
The only other thing of note is a vibration at 2K revs when parked or in neutral. I’ve no idea what to make of it really as there is no sign of it when driving. It idles fine and if I didn’t mention it you probably wouldn’t notice as you don’t generally sit at 2K revs when not driving! The engine mounts appear to be quite new. My thoughts are maybe the trans mount or the exhaust touching something that would be in a slightly different position under load.
There’s a few boxes of bits to go with it - numerous switches, relays, gauges and loads of other random stuff. Also a dog guard. When I replaced the rear brake cylinder I noticed that the pads a wearing a little thin. There’s probably a good year or two in them yet but I have a set of new pads with rebuild kit (springs, pins etc).
The car is in Caldy on the Wirral (CH48) and I’m looking for around £3, 750. Open to offers though.
