MOT TO JULY 2025.
HPI CLEAR.
The car is fitted with adjustable coilover suspension – I believe they are budget units as there is no branding on them. Runs and drives without fault - though the airbag light keeps flashing, possibly a loose plug somewhere. The cambelt has been replaced, however this was in 2015, so it is probably due another just on time rather than mileage. One or two marks, scuffs and tiny dents in the car but overall, she is not too bad. The car looks to have retained its original catalytic converter which is rare as these are worth a pretty penny in scrap these days! The tyres are all fine. The roof looks to be in good order considering it is original – it fitted with a heated glass rear window.
*** The car feels to be solid underneath – it obviously has had a bit of patching, and looking at the MOT history, this will have been done in 2020. It does have a layer of old underseal on it, but again, I can’t see or feel anything that is going to need any welding. The main thing is just the bubbling around the arches which is cosmetic. If you didn’t want to replace the panels, this would be a prime candidate for some wide arch extensions!
I have included a lot of photographs of the underside of the car. ALL MX-5s rust, they have either been welded or need welding, this example benefits from having already been done. ***
All in all, a nice little project car with plenty of history.
