Today the Classic Mini Cooper Sport is becoming a sort after and prized vehicle, especially if presented in fine order, this example has been described as sitting comfortably between Concours and A1 condition and there are not many left that are presented in this condition. This Mini Cooper Sport was registered in February 2001 and was built in September 2000.
Its one of the 2091 right hand drive Cooper Sport (final edition classic range), and out of the 2091 Cooper Sport RHD Minis built this one is the 1793rd made in build order of the 2091 cars making it the 841st last mini ever made as verified by the Mini register.
This Mini Cooper Sport had been well looked after all of its life with high gloss bodywork and immaculate interior and has only covered just over 67, 200 miles over its life which illustrates the care the car has received and low use it has had.
Currently this Cooper Sport is part of a high quality and varied car collection, its current owner purchased it in May 2021 and has used to attend local car shows and marque rally’s and club meets.
On purchase the owner instructed his local specialist engineering and technically experienced garage that the car was to be given a complete and thorough review front to back.
As shown in the photographs the quality of the exterior body work is like new with no dents, dings or scratches The Interior feels like new with the front seats being cleaned and leather treatment applied to any scruffs. The rear seats and all interior leather being thoroughly cleaned and treated. All seats are very well presented, firm and fully operational, the rear seats show little to no use in its life and the mechanical presentation is outstanding with a clean, leak and drip free engine bay.
The mechanical work included a complete service, all belts, fluids, and filters changed, a new battery has been fitted and exhaust system which was sourced at expense to ensure it was the correct Cooper Sport version, any auxiliary items were surveyed and replaced due to age or being inoperative. It has the correct Yokohama tyres fitted to all four wheels less than 350 miles ago.
The owner has also sourced a new factory spec key fob for the alarm and immobiliser and also replaced the fuel filler cap with a Monza style one.
At some time the Mini Cooper Sport has been to the famous Downton Tuning for a fast road camshaft LCB engine upgrade, this gives it a little extra pep and a throaty sound, there is evidence of work on the head cover and has official stickers.
It is estimated that the ‘Downton’ work could give an extra 10-15 bhp.
Performance from this ‘A’ Series engine feels engaging, quirky and fun often described as a ‘go-kart’ for the road as it only weights 686kg.
It has been serviced and MOT’d regardless of miles covered which have been minimal each year but still retains its natural patina so that it kept its own character.
