Description
This car is the work of Jean-Yves Manach. It took him over 2000 hours of work to complete this masterpiece.
The body is made of varnished mahogany sapele, epoxy-glued to a wooden frame with a metal frame. This is the technique used today for wooden boats. Note that the wooden steering wheel was also made by hand.
At the beginning of the century Jean Henri Labourdette was the forerunner of this type of bodywork, adorning prestigious cars like Hispano, Rolls and Bugatti.
This Manach is based on a 1971 VW 1. 6-cylinder chassis and Porsche 356 engine, with central carburetor. The power output of 66 bhp for a weight of around 600 kg (thanks to the wood) which give quite good performance considering low weight.
This car named “ladybird” comes with full leather interior, a corked dashboard, Smith speedometers and a tonneau cover. This car is currently registered in France and drive regularly. Only 2 cars manufactured by Jean- Yves Manach
