Model FZR400RSP EXUP 2TK (1987)
A very special and rare delight!
Yamaha made only 1000 of these, dubbed as the 400cc OW01.
They had adjustable Ohlins front and rear, from when Yamaha owned Ohlins. I can vouch that these work really well. The whole bike has a host of extra special parts that Mr Yamaha made to facilitate this bike being a racer.
The gearbox is a close ratio delight, it is slick and tuneful!
I can confirm that the legend of ‘one of the best handling bikes ever made’ is not an idle boast, it is fantastic.
The bike is standard, untuned! This is a great advantage in my eyes. Mr Yamaha generally know what he is up to…..
I actually have two bikes for sale: One is a racer, registered with CRMC. This advert is the for a road bike with V5 in my name. Both bikes run and ride.
Both bikes have rebuilt carbs, brakes and fuel tanks are sealed and clean. Both bikes would be best having brake pistons cleaned. Yamaha brakes always need loving!
I would like to see both bikes go to a racing home, as they are perfect together, but would sell them individually.
It has been pointed out that in 3 years or less they reach the era of No MOT and No Road Tax!
I just haven’t got the time to ride them, too many projects!

Other Information Adjustable preload on front forks, fully adjustable rear shock, oil cooler is fitted as standard, close ratio gearbox, different pistons, longer con rods, SP cams, Racing CDI, round slide oval venturi carbs. Final drive is via a 525 chain with sprocket sizes of 15 front and 41 rear as standard. Titanium Exhaust valves.
Floating bigger discs, 4 piston calipers.
