1974 Alfa Romeo 2000GTV
UK Supplied Right Hand Drive
87000 miles, Recent MOT
Original colour combination and matching numbers
Finished in Verde Pino (AR216) with contrasting Tan interior.
5 Previous owners, after the second, it was kept in the same family until 2017. Most of the mileage was done in the first 15 years of its life (79k in 1989). It had a light restoration in the late 80s, this included new side sills, rear wheel arches, various floor sections and a glass out respray. The owner then passed away, and the car was transferred to his wife's name. It was put away, and stored until 2015/ 16. It was then decided that the car had to be sold, but not before an extensive recommission. This included a full engine service with all fluids, leads, plugs, points, condenser, head gasket, water pump and radiator. The carbs were refurbished, a full brake overhaul including new calipers and servos. All new shocks and springs, new axle straps. Various lamps and rubbers were replaced too.
More recently, the car has had further expenditure including a new clutch, 2 new engine bay brake servos, Electronic ignition, a major service to include all fluids (Valvoline VR1 engine oil, Liqi-Moly Gearbox and LSD oil, Millers Coolant, Millers brake fluid), Spark plugs, new battery, new horns and horn relay, New rear silencer, new GTA wheels and Yokohama tyres, A suspension refresh including Eibach Springs, New spring pans and plates. A thicker front anti roll bar and rear ARB delete. All new track rod ends for steering. Some new rubbers and bits of trim too. It has also had a full Geo set up.
I had the car "Pre MOT'd" last year to see what it would need, remarkably only a few items came up; inoperative horn and reverse light, the track rod covers had also split. All of these were resolved and the car passed with an advisory free MOT.
Overall, the car is in very good condition it is a solid car and the paintwork presents well, considering it is over 30 years old. The stainless steel bumpers are in good condition too, with nominal imperfections. The interior is also in very good condition, there is some wear here and there, the steering wheel has some cracks and broken lacquer. There is no radio or cut out for a radio in the dashboard (they never came with radios!) Everything works including the heating. The carpets are original, and are in very good condition, same with the headlining.
The 2000 drives very well, better than the smaller engined models, mainly because of the increase in power, but also that it has an LSD and dual servo brakes. It is plenty quick enough, and stays with traffic with no issue at all. It's also happy to travel at motorway speeds with no issue.
It comes with its history file, 3 sets of keys, the original jack and knee pad, a spare wheel with a good tyre, and a workshop manual. I've also had some extremely high quality, pressed number plates made - the number plate comes with the car.
Whilst the car is in very good condition, and in my opinion, the best colour combination, it is considered an "older restoration" and it is 51 years old! Please bear that in mind. Having said that, it's great fun to drive and gets a lot of positive attention.
Viewings are welcome. If you like the car, I would be happy to take you for a drive too.
