Rover P6 - PAS Auto - 3500 V8 - Corsica Blue - Ebony leather interior - £11K ono
Known as ‘Pam’ by her successive owners (of which there have been 5), she was ordered on the 20/ 10/ 1972 from Henley’s Ltd., of London and delivered on the 05/ 04/ 1973 to Flight Sergent William Lawrence Rew of RAF Lyneham, Wiltshire.
He owned the car for almost 30 years and all previous owners are known. Pam has not been restored; she has had what she needed when she needed it, and has received several improvements. She has been maintained by Rover P6 experts, the late Colin Gould of Kingswood Garage and Clive Annabel of M H Annabel & Son.
Engine
01/ 2009 - fuel pump rebuild
10/ 2010 - full carb rebuild & rolling road tune
05/ 2013 - recon radiator fitted
05/ 2014 - water pump reconditioned
08/ 2019 - oil pump refurbished to include uprated high- pressure kit (Real Steel Ltd)
05/ 2021 - PAS filter & fluid changed. Summer thermostat fitted
04/ 2022 - all coolant hoses renewed. PAS seals renewed & new low pressure hose fitted
02/ 2023 - fuel pump rebuild
07/ 2023 - full carb & rolling road tune. Air intake modified (the same successful modification to Chris York’s ‘Lucky’) and performance washable cone air filter fitted into original housing. SD1 heads fitted. Sandblast and repaint of inlet manifolds, carb elbows, air intake, rocker covers & sump. Radiator upgraded with new 2 row ‘cool’ core technology.
Transmission
01/ 2019 - full BW35 transmission rebuild
02/ 2023 - full BW35 transmission rebuild (LJB Engineering)
Ignition/ Electrical
04/ 2019 - heater box reconditioned
05/ 2029 - new uprated alternator fitted, New blade fuse box fitted, new 123 electronic ignition fitted. Headlights uprated
04/ 2020 - Magnecor leads fitted. Correct NOS Lucas ‘Square 8’ front fogs fitted
04/ 2020 - LED bulbs fitted to interior lights, central instrument panel and transmission selector. LED lights fitted to external lights (where legal)
07/ 2023 - ‘Kenlowe’ style electric radiator fan fitted (dashboard switch operation)
08/ 2024 - new battery fitted
Bodywork
05/ 2011 - front and rear wheel bearings renewed
11/ 2013 - SD1 alloy spoke wheels fitted. Brake servo refurbished
04/ 2018 - rear brakes and hoses renewed
04/ 2019 - new suspension shocks all round. New rear springs, spring seats, lower drag links and lower arm bushes. New uprated lower trailing suspension arms fitted, de-Dion elbows and tube refurbished. Upgraded, stiffer anti roll bar & N/ S front drag links and lower fitted. All suspension bushes replaced where needed. Front brake docs, hoses and pipes renewed
07/ 2019 - improved front bumper fitted. Improved chrome overriders fitted all round
08/ 2029 - correct Winguard door mirrors fitted
04/ 2020 - new door to body and glass to door rubbers fitted (supplied by Scott’s Old Rubber, Australia)
09/ 2020 - refurbished (original optional spec) Webasto slide back sunroof fitted (Peter Harvey, Kent)
06/ 2021 - rare (one of 10 remanufactured) louvred bonnet by Aston Martin Restorations Ltd., fitted either NOS bonnet hinges. New dual chrome windscreen washer jets fitted and wipers upgraded with Bosch rubbers
06/ 2023 - OS steering bar replaced. NOS de-Dion gaiter fitted. Sill covers removed and resprayed. Inspection of inner sills - all OK
07/ 2024 - NOS exterior badges fitted
Currently shod with Falken ZIEX ZE912 205/ 65R15 94V tyres
Interior
12/ 2008 - full interior reupholstered in black leather & JVC CD receiver fitted
07/ 2019 - ET front headrests fitted. Sun visors upgraded with P4 Perspex versions
09/ 2020 - new grey ‘West of England Cloth’ headlining (100% wool) fitted as part of the Webasto sunroof fitting
06/ 2023 - fitting of refurbished (by J D Wadhams) rare NADA front door ‘bins’
