Description

This is my first Mercedes-Benz, it was my works commutor since its been in my ownership and care ca. 2016. My '19 works Mercedes-Benz C350e took over its function until recently itself was replaced with '24 EV fleet vehicle.

My car is a 1980's Patrick Swayze Roadhouse throwback, admittedly a bit of a "dentist's car". Its historic main purpose was local commuter use throughout its life in London across several owners, all of which looked after the car, smoke free.

The previous owner (a golf player) passed and their partner parked the car up on the drive in storage - but neglected in the sun under trees without covers - disused. There was an attempt to restore the car but it was sold into my care.

On the road it looks and feels dignified, handsome, classy; it's quiet sophistication certainly turns heads & gains smiles in traffic (some people even try to buy it).

My car is lovingly maintained, drives and handles impeccable. It's now used as my  weekend warrior country traveller.

She's very torquey and easily pulls through traffic. When required the auto downshift kicks in and gives a nice smooth acceleration and sporty GT engine note, it's addictive so mind your fuel.

Consumpt. extra urban 24mpg, urban circa 18mpg on premium E5% ethanol 99 octane but she runs happily on 95 E10% ethanol.

I treat my fuel system to Dipetane fuel stabiliser.

Classic historic vehicle: mot, ulez, cc, road tax exempt. It's well in demand and may see itself back in London again.

Car colour is the super-rare diamond blue. Interior is hen's teeth: velour navy blue mohair cloth seats with grey bolsters on black piping. Navy blue vinyl completes the interior.

This car was assembled as series 1 body and powertrain during series transition in Sindelfingen July 1985 per engine code 126. 044.

Engine, driveline, transmission constantly serviced and the car is regularly maintained, but despite previous neglect it comes with some service history.

Latest: new brakes, discs, lines, new Michelin tyres, new door & boot straps and seals, new 1000AH battery, new belts, new timing chain & guides, new filters, plugs, and oil of course.

New suspension bushes, joints, links. New fuel pump.

Pneumatic central locking all works great. New lights throughout, seats are covered and protected. Electric sunroof works great and does not leak.

Blaupunkt orig. SQR45 Cassette player was serviced. New capacitors, new display lights and button bushes, new cassette reader and belt drive, new speakers, amp installed but not connected, antenna works great, (frequently oiled with sewing machine oil) Bluetooth modification included.

Future things to fix:

Body mounts are next.

Aircon requires compressor, bearings are shot, drier is new. No leaks.

Cruise control doesn't work. Not got to it yet.

Different keys but with original keyage & key fobs. Vacuum Central locking works great.

Cosmetics

Wood trim needs replacing due sun damage. Body needs a new coat, I didn't clear coat properly.

The car is complete with full tool, spare wheel and jacking kit all original equipment in boot.

Car includes all literature.

This car is kept covered under tarp and heavy canvas, fully protected from weather.

Regretful sale due emigration. It's a GT, classy sleek and handsome. It's quiet and refined, it's not a show off, but dignified.

In any saloon Mercedes-Benz you'd feel old but in this car it's a youthful energetic classic Mercedes sports feel. Driven properly it is a nippy, busy-body, no-nonsense driver.

It was the premium Mercedes-Benz of it's time, no expense was spared in design and manufacture. For it's full size, it's remarkably sleek and spacious compared to anything today, it outperforms other cars on the road very easily of course, cruise is quiet and supersmooth, a motorway mile muncher.

Turning circle and high visibility large windows makes this car very easy to manoeuver and drive. It's classic status makes this car very cheap to own. £70 p/ a classic insurance, zero tariffs and mot exemption.

It's an old car, with an old feel and look, but the shiny sleek lines stands out very sophisticated in it's standard design configuration. The mileage is ca. 123, 000 miles.
