1990 (G) Volkswagen Passat CL 1. 6 Turbo Diesel
Up for sale, swap or px with all things considered. However would prefer a cash sale as I have found a vehicle I would like to purchase.
Owned since the end of January however I bought it sight unseen and came with a few issues that I wasn’t aware of, so I’ve fixed the issues I found and more. I haven’t got the interest in this car anymore and I won’t use it.
Reliable four cylinder 1. 6 litre turbo diesel engine with a 5 speed manual gearbox returning amazing mpg making this an Uber cool 90s daily. Paired with being a long roof, there is loads of space and practicality.
I’m the 6th owner since 1990, with 5 previous owners, one owner from 93’ until 04’ and another from 04’ until 24!
This Passat is 35 years old now and does show its age in places however it is very straight and fairly solid for its age with a small amount of rust on the bottom of the drivers door and a small amount of scabbing on the passenger wing.
During my ownership I have rebuilt the original driveshafts with new inner and outer CV joint kits, I have replaced the sump due a leak with a new sump, sump gasket, sump plug and washer.
I have fitted a brand-new rear left Febi Bilstein engine mount and left to fit is a brand-new front Febi Bilstein engine mount.
A full set of brand new 40mm lowering springs and a full set of brand new shock absorbers fitted all round.
Whilst this has been carried out, a full engine service including oil filter and 10W40 oil, fuel filter and air filter replacement, a brand-new coolant reservoir bottle and cap, the coolant system flushed and refilled with fresh coolant.
Pretty basic CL interior with manual windows and a basic 90s aftermarket stereo. Recently had some new interior bulbs and switches fitted and some upgraded headlight bulbs. Comes with a set of original 4 x 100 steel wheels with fantastic tyres and hubcaps.
Only jobs for the new owner would be to fix the non-working heater blower which could be a resistor or the motor. The door handle requires some delicacy when opening as well. Included in the sale is a new ball joint, a few belts and a set of steering rack gaiters which were picked up on last MOT.
There is a small hole in the front inner arch which requires welding which I am happy to carry out welding on for the full asking price.
