Description
This is a 1976 Honda CB550 Four, which I purchased in October 2021 and I believe much of it is original. It still has factory yellow marks on fixings and labels still are in place. It has a lovely sounding Delkevic 4 into 1 exhaust, which is stainless steel. The seat and cover are original with a good base. It starts rides and stops and has new Avon Road Rider tyres professionally fitted and balanced. It has only been used on dry days and stored in a garage under a cover.
The tank and side panels were professionally painted 6 months ago, with the period correct decals fitted. Honda did not make this model year in black, it would have been dark red, but that is not a particularly appealing colour.
The tank is clean inside, the rims and spokes are good and the clocks for a USA bike are big and clear. I had the speedo professionally rebuilt.
It benefits from electronic ignition and the headlight has been wired from always on to a on/ off switch. The indicator beepers (USA market addition) sound horrid and are currently unplugged, indicators work as normal. This feature could easily be plugged back in if desired.
Correct period numberplate made by Tippers. Recently fitted a brand new battery. I have receipts for all new parts mentioned above, plus many receipts from the previous owner.
V5C present in my name, and it comes with 2 keys.
It was a USA import in 2019, and it was MOT’d for its NOVA on entry to the UK at 18, 049 miles. The speedo was changed around 20, 000, I have the original, the replacement clock currently shows 11, 000, I would estimate the total milage to be circa 23, 000. Includes dating certificate from Honda Owners club which they used to obtain the UK registration.
Unfortunately it has developed a tapping noise, which goes away when the engine is revved, possibly clutch related, but does not affect operation. I would love to get this fixed and use it again, but I do not have the time, because we have just had a baby, hence I have decided to sell.
