Welcome to this listing of my 1983 Lancia Beta Coupe 2000ie.
It’s a very nice example finished in Rosso red with only 30, 000 miles. It is MOT’d until May 2025 with one advisory which has since been fixed, all it needed was a new gasket on the exhaust.
The car comes with plenty of history including old MOT certificates from the 90s and previous owners of which there have only been 2 registered keepers before me.
The Car comes with the original Mud flaps, Carello Spotlights, toolbox and Jack.
I bought it in November 2022 as a project car to get fixed on my Gap year. Before this the car had spent 20 years sitting in a barn in Hull, with one MOT showing up in 2010.
Since Owning it:
Engine:
The car was not running when bought so I sent it away to get it started. It’s had its starter motor fixed; the fuel injectors have all been UV cleaned, and spray patterns checked, new oil, spark plugs, and she now runs smoothly. I’ve done over 500 miles since owning it, commuted it to work a few times and it hasn’t skipped a beat. Drives so easily and keeps up with modern traffic a treat.
Exhaust:
The whole exhaust system has been replaced with newly made parts sourced from Beta Boyz and Italy, apart from the exhaust manifold which is the original.
Brakes:
The whole system has new pipes and flexi-hoses, new pads front and back, new discs on the back and the front discs have been skimmed. They work perfectly well, better than my Polo.
Fuel:
All the fuel lines have been replaced as they were full of old fuel and corroded. I managed to get a new fuel tank from Italy as well, which is from a 1600 Beta coupe but has been slightly modified to fit the injection model.
Other jobs that have been done include:
-replacement water pump
- replacement washer fluid box
-Sills and jacking points welded up
-Bonnet and general holes have been filled
-4 new tyres with the original spare tyres still in the boot
Electrics:
The electric windows, radio, speakers and all the exterior lights work.
Some of the dials on the dashboard don’t seem to work.
Body Work:
Mixed.
Overall, the bodywork is solid, but it’s a Lancia Beta so there is rust. There are small patches dotted on the exterior. The worst is the bonnet and boot lid. But thankfully I have a spare boot lid that just needs painting.
The bonnet is very saveable.
Amazingly there is no rust around the sunroof (which is manual not electric).
Interior:
All I can say is that it’s like it’s been frozen in time. So clean, seats aren’t worn, none of the plastic is cracked. I don’t think the back seats have ever been sat in. It’s lovely
I’ll be very sad to see this car go, but I’m in my second year of University and I won’t be able to carry on funding this car for more restoration. Driving it around I’ve had lots of looks and comments, it gets lots of attention. I’ve never seen another on the road even though they are out there. Online it says there’s only about 100 MOT’d on the road, so it’s got a nice rare factor to it as well, particularly with such low mileage.
Oh, and it’s a historic vehicle so no road tax or MOT required.
