Description
Single owner/ driver since July 2000. Bought from Stirling Motor Group, Ipswich. Continental Holidays only, several times to Italy. 1069 miles between 18. 07. 2014 and 06. 03. 2025. MOT + oil and filter change + A/ C recharge + new centre and rear exhaust fitted + repaired wiper motor (by me - an electronics engineer) + slow puncture repair, costing £617 - 90p.
No massive budgets spent keeping this car in top class mechanical condition or bodywork repairs. Not perfect but very little expense would be needed to restore to factory - gate condition.
Garaged throughout and totally rust free - engine bay unmolested - "No Bling", although intakes refinished in gun-metal grey.
Seventeen inch tele - dials but original sixteen inch wheels in storage.
Superb Tan Leather, complimenting the Alfa Red paintwork, making it the most cheerfully sunny driving experienced to be had in an Alfa. The interior is immaculate, the steering wheel, handbrake boot and gear knob leather being as new. Cigarette lighter never used and the car has been a smoke fee environment throughout.
Code cards and keys (4) + boot mounted CD Player.
Bumpers resprayed but bodywork as yet untouched as it is felt buyers would like to see the condition of the body/ paintwork as is - no hidden filler for example. Otherwise the bodywork is in first class condition with only lacquer peeling in places to spoil the overall looks.
Busso's Violin still as sweet as the day it was built and the five speed box is an ideal match for this engines torque spread, making it very quick between gears. Despite this, this engine has "Never Been Red - lined". - why would you given its wonderful flexibility.
If unsold, this car will go into storage as we are moving to an apartment with no garage or parking.
Only serious offers for what must be the lowest mileage GTV I know of. This car is not a project vehicle so no time wasters or bargain hunters please. Having owned a 2. 5 litre Alfetta GTV6 and again spent many holidays on the continent with my wife and young children, it was sad that it was fire damage on a neighbours property, when the 316 came along with a 3. 0 litre Busso under the bonnet, I jumped at the chance - even though it was originally priced at over £30k, before they lowered it.
I have owned Alfas exclusively since the early 70's, to the exclusion of all other marques. One cannot define exactly what it is about Alfa's, but they are what they are - magnetic.
The 3. 0 quad cam is the greatest incarnation of Busso's Violin, in my opinion, and the distances it covered between our home and Tuscany are the most magical way to illustrate just how wonderful his engine is.
Another aspect of this car is the way the rear view mirror makes cars such as a Testa Rossa look like a Red London Bus - which always makes me smile - along with the way Ferrari drivers would give way to me at the Autostrada tolls. And the way, when getting lost in Linate and driving down Via Alfa Romeo and past the now demolished Alfa Factory, every driver would stop and let me out at junctions, whilst pedestrians stood an waved.
