1998 Toyota MR2 Revision 5 GT T-bar
This MR2 has been my pride and joy for the last 4 years and I have put many hours and much money into making it into one of the cleanest MK2 MR2's on the market today.
I bought it in early 2021 having been in long term family ownership but off the road for 5 years due to corrosion on the rear sills. To get her back on the road I had the following done;
- New sill panels professionally welded in (not patched like a lot out there!), painted, and wax filled. Full photographs available.
- No other rust issues are present, including the common vents behind the rear bumper (photos available).
- Alloy wheels fully refurbished & powder coated.
- Rear quarter windows removed and re-sealed (this is a common MR2 area for letting water in)
- New cambelt kit, water pump, coolant, radiator, and radiator fans.
- New brake discs, pads, and handbrake cables
- New custom made S/ S exhaust
In my 4 years of ownership, lots of other work has also been carried out;
- Oil & filter changes
- Air filter replaced
- Spark plugs, HT leads, distributor cap & rotor arm
- Front suspension strut assemblies replaced
- Turbo engine lid installed
- Brand new genuine revision 5 gear knob fitted
- New gear gaiter & steering wheel recovered
- Interior reupholstered in black crushed velvet
- Rear bumper changed for import type (I prefer the smaller number plate recess). Original bumper is available.
This MR2 stands out for all the right reasons; No lairy body kits, original bodywork, original wheels, no rust, unique colour, and of course this a genuine revision 5 model.
Why am I selling if I love this MR2 so much? Because the opportunity came up to own an original 1999 GT Turbo and my wife won't let me keep both.
