Description
Here we have for sale my all steel 1938 2dr Ford Sedan.
I chose the 38 sedan as I needed a 4 seater family hotrod, so after sourcing this in
California, I personally imported the car back in 2007. I then spent 3 years building it
with quality parts throughout, the goal was to create a comfortable, reliable mile
muncher. Living in Central Scotland and frequenting numerous shows down south, a
normal hotrod weekend is a 900 mile round trip for us!
So I started with a bulletproof Oldsmobile 260 V8, and mated it to a rebuilt silky
smooth TH350 gearbox. Added an Edelbrock intake manifold and Holley 2 barrel
carb, all new ignition system and dressed it up as you do. Also added a Lokar shifter
for that precise selecting action. Let’s be honest, it’s not going to win any drag races,
but it’ll cruise all day at 75mph. I’ve recently fully serviced it ready for the new owner.
Underneath is solid as a rock. Starting at the front I’ve fitted a TCI crossmember with
powdercoated A arms, Mustang 2 power rack and matching 11” rotors and calipers.
At the rear I’ve used the tried and tested Ford 9” axle, again using TCI for their
excellent leaf spring kit. Just renewed the rear shoes as part of my “front to back
next owner service”. Staying at the rear I’ve fitted a stainless steel fuel tank and a
nice hidden towbar. Completing the look and stance are Boyd Coddington 17”
wheels with Yokohama rubber all round.
Inside is a nice place to be, very comfortable especially when cruising long
distances. Leather interior done by Glasgow based Ian Marshall Interiors. Obviously
the car has been completely rewired, and I’ve added remote entry, electric front
windows, heater, electric 2 speed wipers and Dolphin gauges. There’s even rear
seatbelts for peace of mind when the kids are there.
All new glass, and front screen was supplied by Jefferis Hot rod Glass. Cool side
mirrors too sourced from Vision Hot Rod Concepts.
The paint is starting to show its age now with some issues close up in a couple of
areas, but doesn’t detract from the look at all. Best to come have a look and drive it,
you won’t be disappointed.
It’s a bitter sweet sale this as the 38 has been part of our family for years. But the
kids are all grown up and moved out and I’ve recently finished my 34 coupe, so time
for the next owner to enjoy this hotrod.
